I just got back from a trip to DC and a personal tour of the White House.
I've included a few photos of the tour, including the famous Steinway called Eagle 1. It was the 300,000th piano built by Steinway and was built specifically for the White House. Read more...

February, 2007

We're now living in Louisville where it's cold but the winter is a welcome change after more than 30 years in the Sunbelt.  We love the city, the culture and there is an abundance of creative musicians.  I currently have two new groups, a trio and a quintet.  See the gig list on this site.

We started a Jazz / Art Home Vespers series that kicks off on February 11, 2007 with a quartet of excellent players.  Our plan is to feature various jazz artists, both local and national every 4-6 weeks. The primary intention is to offer creative artists an opportunity to share their creativity with other artists in a spiritual setting where we acknowledge that God is creator of all and has given us an opportunity to share it with us.  In addition to performing, the artist is also encouraged to speak of his/her own spiritual journey. Dialog with the people in attendance is invited.  Artists are rarely given the opportunity to exchange ideas on their art from the spiritual perspective.

I will also be traveling back to Arizona for Easter Week for concerts, clinics and a wonderful worship service with all the members of Music Serving the Word Ministries.

In May I will be at the Interim Church Ministers Conference in Baltimore, MD where I will play in two worship services and offer a clinic on Integrating Jazz and Improvised Music into Worship.

In June I will be the featured musician for the Iowa United Church of Christ State Conference.

Finally, we are planning several new playalong church recordings with Jamey Aebersold, including a new Christmas version.  Stay tuned.

Blessings to all of you and may the Holy Spirit enrich your own creative efforts -

November, 2006

Hello and greetings to all

Much has happened in the last few months.

Recently returned from a two month trip to Louisville, KY and Chicago, IL where I played several worship services and some really cool jazz gigs with great players.  Couldn't have asked for more.

Our play-a-long book and recording, Jazz in the Sanctuary is doing well and is now being distributed by Jamey Aebersold and Jazz Books.com as well.  In fact, we'll be doing a two CD set of church song play-a-longs for him.  We hope to have this project completed and released by the Spring, 2007.

Since we have been traveling back and forth from the Louisville area for a few years now, we have decided to move there permanently.  We just sold our home in Arizona and will be leaving December 15, 2006.  We have purchased a new house in Louisville and will post our new contact information on the website when we get settled.  This is a huge move for us since we have been in Arizona for 25 years but my work here has been completed as far as teaching is concerned and it is time to move on to new life and new music.

I am excited about the potential for new creative ministry. At the present there are numerous things being discussed with Music Serving the Word Ministries.  I have already made some progress toward bringing creative people together in the Louisville area to help facilitate some of these ideas.  I will let you know as things develop.

God's blessings to all -
