What is it?
Seeds is the name of a new jazz quartet featuring Fred Forney, trumpet and flugelhorn, Chuck Marohnic, piano, Dwight Kilian, bass and Dom Moio, drums.

The inspiration for the name Seeds comes from a wish that through the music the listener will become more sensitized to the world we live in. Song List

Justice for the EarthA beautiful ballad opening the CD. Chuck Marohnic music, BMI.

Be Still and Listen This song invites the listener to subtle levels of listening. The wind sound in the beginning suggests that something is about to happen. The soloing order breaks from traditional formats to each player sharing a section of the piece for an improvisational statement. Also notice the beginnings of the concept of group improvisation. Chuck Marohnic music, BMI.

Val VistaA great groove in the style of Ahmad Jamal mixed with a suggestion of reggae. The title translates to World Vision. Chuck Marohnic music, BMI.

SpiritsFred’s beautiful ballad and playing draw the listener to the lyricism in the music. Fred Forney music, ASCAP.

Hummingbird Just as a hummingbird flits from one flower to another, so goes the melody. Drums play the melody up-front. Chuck Marohnic music, BMI.

Sanctus The title implies the sacred. We hold God’s creation in reverence. The groove is an adaptation of Tony Williams’ song Sister Cheryl. Piano plays the melody with trumpet framing the piece with Harmon mute. Chuck Marohnic music, BMI.

Wish For Our ChildrenThis is a pretty little waltz. The sounds of children playing underscore the importance of the title. Fred Forney music, ASCAP.

Uncommon TouchThis is somewhat of a free improvisation over a determined form. Can you find the repeating rhythm figure that anchors the tune? This was also recorded on Chuck’s CD, Trios. Chuck Marohnic music, BMI.

Delicate BalanceThis great closer gives the listener a chance to reflect. Fred Forney music, ASCAP.
